  • Question
What can I use instead of sawdust?
    Community Answer
Baking soda, cat litter, newspaper, or sand would work. You could just use a shovelful of dirt if you don't have anything else.
  • Question
How would I "go" in this privately?
    Community Answer
You put it in the center of a bunch of bushes, or you bring another tent and essentially you've created an outhouse.

Remember that no one is particularly interested in seeing urine or feces, let alone seeing these exit someone's body, so everyone will quickly turn away if they do see you. Avoid doing this in the open, and only do it if the need is high and there's no other way. The higher the need, the less you will care about anyone seeing you. But if they do, you'll be embarrassed, but it will pass.
  • Question
If I'm homeless, would this be a good idea?

No. Humanity has built sewer systems to manage waste products. Before, they would just be thrown out onto the streets, causing not just horrible smells, but also diseases and all sorts of pests. Though if the need is high, people can defecate and urinate pretty much anywhere, it is not a good idea to do this structurally.
  • Question
    What if I don’t have a bucket?
    Community Answer
Go a little ways behind a tree or bush, make sure to check for poison ivy/oak/sumac and any dangerous animals, and dig a 1.5 foot hole with a spade. Use this hole as a toilet, and fill the hole back in when you are done. Make sure to mark the spot with a stick or something, so no one digs there by accident. When you return, make sure to clean the spade with disinfectant, and then check yourself for ticks.
