  • Question
How do I reverse the process so I can run Mac files again?
    Community Answer
While your computer boots up, hold the option key. Once you see the startup manager, release the option key. Select your original partition and press enter.
  • Question
I can't install WineBottler. It said "Image not found. Can't open install application". What can I do?
    Community Answer
If you are using the newer version of Mac OS X, it's not compatible.
  • Question
What do I do if I click open with Wine, check Run Directly In, then click Go, but nothing happens?
    Community Answer
Use the second method explained in the tutorial. Your executable file (.EXE) most likely doesn't support Wine.
  • Question
The "select a program" step in the emulator method confuses me. Are we supposed to install Firefox?
    Community Answer
Winebottler has a database of many basic PC applications. The image uses Firefox as an example, but you do not need it to run .exe files.
  • Question
Do I need X11 to open exe files on my Mac?
    Community Answer
X11 is just a Windows system, it's not really needed. It may be possible, but not necessary. WineBottler will work very well, unless you have the newer Mac version like High Sierra or Mojave.
  • Question
How do I exit the Windows application when using boot camp?
    Community Answer
Start it up as your original partition. If you have no option to do so, then that means that you have deleted your Mac partition. Therefore, you are stuck with the Windows, but if you really need to exit, then you may need to reset your Mac.
  • Question
I have OS Sierra. Will WineBottler work on it?
    ParodyStar
    Community Answer
Yes, it should, with the version 1.8.6 (stable version), unless your .exe file doesn't run. If your .exe file doesn't work, try the second method, Boot Camp.
  • Question
If I don't have a USB available, will it work?
    Hudson Gouge
    Community Answer
Yes it will, in the instructions it says that you can use the USB stick.
  • Question
I'm using Catalina now. Will it work?
    Community Answer
No, it only works on Sierra or Mojave (Latest) and below them. Wine requires 32 bit software to run while Apple have upgraded to 64 bit. But it is possible; you can install Wine on Catalina.
  • Question
It won't show me the step 9. What should I do?
    Community Answer
This is #9: Release ⌥ Option when the Startup Manager appears. This window will display all of the different drives from which you can start up your Mac.
  • Question
When I chose open with Wine, the application didn't open. Is there any solution? I don't want to install Windows.
    H. S.
    Community Answer
Wine could not open the application because it does not contain a full-fledged Windows installation. So, you will still need to install Windows to open that, but you are not restricted to Boot Camp. Even a virtual machine running Windows will already do, and to do that, you might need other programs such as Parallels or even just VirtualBox.
  • Question
I downloaded ISO file and installed boot camp assistant. My mac restarted but I did not arrive at the Windows installer screen and I still cannot open my .exe file.
    H. S.
    Community Answer
Try to remove the partition through Boot Camp and not through Disk Utility. And then, try to re-do it again through Boot Camp. If you still can't, you might need to use a virtual machine instead.
  • Question
How can I go back to Mac once I got on to Windows and my Mac is the newest version?
    Community Answer
Hold down the ⌥ option key immediately after your Mac starts up. Then release as you see some drives on the screen. Select Macintosh HD (or the drive with macOS installed, not the Boot Camp one). Press Return and you are done!
