    Expert Answer
Keep most larger items simple, functional, and light/bright. Determine what the function of the space is going to be and focus on what is most important to you first. For example, how many people will you want to be able to sit in the space? From there you can determine if you need a sofa, set of chairs, sectional, combination, etc. You want to start with the larger pieces first and create a functional layout. Then you can go in and fill in with the rug, accent tables, and any accessories (plants, artwork, lamps, etc).

  • Question
I share a room with three siblings. It's small and has two bunk beds. I have no idea how to make it seem presentable. Do you have any suggestions for me?
    Community Answer
Use matching bedspreads and pillowcases, organization bins, color coded bookshelf and pictures. It'll then present a shared theme that will look presentable and coordinated.
  • Question
How can I make sure everything stays neat, and if things do get messy, how can I feel motivated to clean it up?
    Community Answer
To make sure everything stays neat, spend 5 minutes every day cleaning up so it never becomes a huge mess. If you want to feel motivated to clean your room, turn on some music, and think of a reward you can give yourself afterwards, like watching your favorite show, going out for ice cream, etc.
  • Question
What do I do if my room is cluttered and my bed is too low to put anything under it?

Buy bed risers so you'll have more space to store stuff under your bed. Get rid of some things, organize everything neatly and in a cute way by category.
  • Question
What if I have too much clutter and absolutely nowhere to put it?
    Gabby Adams
    Community Answer
If you have to much clutter, try going through it and deciding what you really need; what you don't, you can donate to Goodwill or have a garage sale. If you still have clutter after that, invest in bins that you can slide underneath your bed to store stuff.
  • Question
How do I make my walls look nicer when,I have too much stuff on them?

Organize the pictures differently or in order. Or, put them on an angle, to make them look cool. And instead of doing it photography style, you could just hang them and put lights surrounding them.
  • Question
How do I get rid of things if my mother won't let me have a sale?
    Community Answer
You can put them in a box and store them, give them to friends and family, or you could donate them. If you have an adult family member with an eBay account who would be willing to help, selling them online would be an option. You could also consign them in or sell them to a secondhand shop.
  • Question
How do I get blueprints for making a loft bed?
    Community Answer
Maybe try making dotted lines on your sheet of paper, to show a "transparent" look to the area. Draw the furniture underneath as a full line.

You could ask another family member with a single bed if they are willing to swap beds, without swapping bedrooms. Otherwise, you could keep a drawer or set of boxes under your bed for store space. Another option is to get shelves on your wall so you have more storage space there. You can sometimes get cheap beds from a second-hand store, so that's an option.
  • Question
I have a room full of toys but I don't want to give anything away. Do you have any helpful suggestions?
    Ruby
    Top Answerer
Sometimes it can be easier to get rid of items if you donate them to someone else, such as a younger sibling, or to a charity shop. If you are really not wanting to part with anything at the moment, you can keep them in boxes or drawers, which you can keep in a cupboard, or under your bed. You can also see if there is anywhere else in the house you can keep them, such as a basement or loft. Sort your toys into different categories and have separate spaces for each category. Put everything back in its place after use. It can be hard to give away toys, but it is best to work through it little by little. Donating one item a week that you never use can be useful and help reduce clutter.
  • Question
What do I do with small objects such as luck charms, models of animals etc., or snow-globes if I want them to be shown?
    Ruby
    Top Answerer
Display them on a shelf, windowsill, or on top of a chest of drawers. If they are particularly small and you're worried you'll lose them, keep them in an appropriately-sized glass box or case. Less is more in terms of displaying items, so to make them stand out, don't display them with many more things, just display them with other items of similar items.
