Can a GBA to GC link cable work with a GBA SP?

Yes, it works the same as using an original Game Boy Advance. However, the Game Boy Micro cannot connect up to the GameCube/Wii without some soldering skills.

It is for the link cable. Nintendo got rid of the headphone jack so they could cram everything the SP needed in there, so there's only the EXT2 charging port and a link cable port. You can mod in a headphone port, but that gets rid of the link cable port.
