I would start out by practicing major scales by position. So, maybe start out with the C major in the open position, then a C major in the second position. Go on to the fifth, seventh, etc.

I am taking guitar lessons from a next-door neighbor who is a guitar teacher. I have trouble seeing, as I've been blind all my life. How can I deal with any frustration that I might experience?
    Jelke de Jong
    Community Answer
As far as sheet music goes, there is sheet music in Braille, I think. As far as playing would go, or seeing what your guitar teacher is doing with his/her hands, the only advice I could give you is make sure he/she knows about it, and you can work out solutions where your hands are moved by your teacher to teach you the various positioning, movement, etc.
  • Question
    Is the blues like jazz?
    Community Answer
The difference is that blues has a set chord progression (1,1,1,1,4,4,1,1,5,4,1,5), but jazz does not have to follow that. Jazz is also played with a swung rhythm.
