If you rinse your hair quickly enough, the brown dye will not stain the rest of your blonde hair.
  • Question
If I have light blonde hair, do I still need to bleach it first to add purple?
    Community Answer
If your hair is any darker than a white-blonde or a platinum-blonde, you should probably bleach it to ensure that the color holds well. Keep in mind that the shade of purple also matters; a shade like lavender will hold better if the hair is very light, and a deep purple will show up brighter on light hair.
  • Question
I have auburn hair. What color would go best with this?
    Community Answer
A vibrant red will stand out and go with the rest of your auburn hair. Highlights and/or an ombre effect would look nice.
  • Question
How do I refresh my old streaks?
    Community Answer
Bleach any new hair directly above the streak, then apply the color to both the bleached hair and the fading streak, and leave it in your hair for as long as the directions say to. Be aware that if you're changing the color of your streak, you may need to bleach all of the streak in order to strip the old color, which will allow the new color to show more vibrantly.
  • Question
Can I put a purple streak in my grey hair?
    Community Answer
Absolutely! It would look best with dark purple hair, but it would look good with light purple hair too.
  • Question
How should I choose the color for my streak?
    Community Answer
Try a colour that's contrasting to the colour of your natural hair. For example, if you have black hair, do purple. If you have brown hair, do red. It really depends. If you have blonde hair, don't do white or you won't see it. If you have black hair, don't do brown.
  • Question
If I bleach my hair with hydrogen peroxide, should I use foil?
    Community Answer
If you bleach with hydrogen peroxide, you probably want to use foil.
  • Question
Is it possible to streak my hair with just bleach?

    Community Answer
It is possible. But you will only get a streak that is about one shade lighter than your real hair. And that will not show well against your actual hair.
  • Question
Do I need to bleach my hair if it's gray?
    Community Answer
Well, it depends on the new color. If you're dying it black or dark brown, no. If you're dying it pink, yes.
  • Question
I dyed my hair black and want to put purple streaks in it. Can I use bleach?
    Community Answer
You have to bleach it. Black hair is really hard to dye -- the best way to do it is with bleach. Don't worry, you can always cut it off if it doesn't work out.
  • Question
What color should I streak my black hair? I am a guy.
    Community Answer
Most men bleach their hair a red color or blonde.
  • Question
How much will all of the supplies cost?
    Community Answer
It depends on what kind of dye you are using. You can get some bright colors at a nearby drugstore for about $10 CAD.
  • Question
What are some good colors for dark brown hair?
    Community Answer
Red, certain shades of purple, maybe a cyan blue, but not navy or plum, as these won't show up well.
  • Question
Can I put a colored streak on henna hair?
    Community Answer
Be careful and keep color mixing principles in mind: dying an already colored piece of hair will add color to the existing color, so be mindful of how the new colors could interact.
  • Question
Is it possible to highlight hair using only bleach and no dye?
    Community Answer
Yes. If it is brassy after you bleach it, use toner to remove brassy tones.
  • Question
Will it work if I only leave in the dye for about 30 to 45 minutes?
    Community Answer
Probably, yes, but read the directions on the package of your dye. Usually the longer you leave it in, the more vibrant the color will be, but it also depends on what color you're using and what color your hair is now.
  • Question
Can I use foil or plastic wrap to separate strands of my hair when doing the bleach step?
    Community Answer
You could put foil under your strand of hair while you bleach that strand. Using plastic wrap is not the most efficient way. You could always use hair ties to separate the hair you are not dyeing or bleaching.
  • Question
    What is a semi-demi permanent?
    Community Answer
It's color that lasts four to 12 weeks, depending on the shade and your hair. Semi-permanent dye is applied without mixing developer if it comes in a pot of color. If it comes in a box from a drugstore, it'll need to be mixed with a low-level developer (which comes in the box).
  • Question
Can I color my white natural hair?
    Community Answer
Yes you can, just be aware that the color will likely be bright. If you don’t want it as bright ,then try doing a pastel streak instead.
  • Question
Is it possible to streak your hair without bleaching it at all?
    Community Answer
It depends on your natural hair color. You might be able to skip the bleach if you have blonde or light brown hair, although very light colors might not show up. If your hair is medium-brown or darker, though, you'll usually need to bleach it; otherwise, you'll get a tint rather than a vibrant streak, or not see the color at all. (Alternatively, you could also try hair chalk or extensions, which don't require bleach.)
