It is usually not recommended to use pads when wearing a bikini. If your pad has those wings that fold over the bikini bottom, they are visible, which most women find an uncomfortable thought. The same goes for if your pad is relatively thick: it will be visible that you're wearing a pad. However, it is perfectly normal that you use these, so you can use pads if you want to. Just remember to not go swimming with pads, that will lead to a mess. If you want to swim on your period, consider using tampons instead of pads.

That has happened to me before. Face the pool wall and try to retie it. If there is a friend around, ask her to cover you or help you tie it. If none of these work, I suggest putting your arms across your chest and gripping the opposite shoulder with your hands while you try to get to a bathroom or other private place.
