Acetone should be able to break through the nail glue and remove it from your counter top. Loosen the dried glue with an acetone soaked towel and perform a couple of applications. You should eventually be able to remove the glue.

Elmer's glue is soft enough that you should be able to use soap and warm water to break it up and remove it from your table. Acetone will also remove the glue. However, apply a small amount of acetone to a small, hidden area of your table to ensure it does not damage the wood. This is especially important if your table has any type of stain. A soapy water solution is most likely a safer option.
