You could download your router's management app and then view the connected devices list on your phone. Check your router's setup guide to see which app you need to download.
  • Question
Will devices connected to a hotspot show up as a connected device?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
They will show up on the hotspot's device list. You may have to log into it, or if it is on your phone, it should be displayed in your phone's menu.
  • Question
I don’t know one of the devices. What should I do?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
It's possible that it is a device that you don't remember. But it's also possible that you have a network intruder. I would recommend changing your Wi-Fi password (make sure to use WPA2), and then reconnecting all of your devices.
  • Question
How do I look up a MAC address?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
You can Google "MAC address lookup", and then type in the MAC address into the site. Keep in mind that you can only retrieve the wireless card's manufacture information from the MAC address. Specific device information cannot be provided.
  • Question
How do I find out information for each device connected to my Wi-Fi?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
You can look up the device's MAC address to find the device's (or wireless card's) manufacturer, and you can view the device name to see if it has any information. But you would have to find the actual device connected to learn any more about it.
  • Question
Can someone see when you change your password? Just wondering because I have changed passwords gotten new devices.
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
If they are connected to your Wi-Fi network, then they will be able to tell since they will be kicked off. Otherwise, no, they cannot tell. If you are still getting new devices after you change your Wi-Fi password, and you are sure that they are not yours, then you can read How to Secure Your Wireless Home Network for help.
  • Question
My desktop PC is on Ethernet, but I want to add it to my Wi-Fi network. How do I do this?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
First, I want to let you know that Ethernet is actually faster than Wi-Fi, so I wouldn't recommend this. But if you still want to do it, then you can check if your desktop has a Wi-Fi card. You can easily check this by clicking on the Ethernet icon (it looks like a PC with an Ethernet cable in the bottom right corner of the screen), and seeing if there are Wi-Fi networks listed. If you see this, then just connect to a network. If you cannot, then you need to buy a Wi-Fi adapter for your PC. You can easily buy USB adapters from a store or online. Once you have one, follow the steps that come with it to set it up.
  • Question
I noticed that someone else is monitoring my phone, and I need to get the person out or block them.
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
You can change your password to kick them out. You can read How to Add a Password to Your Wi-Fi for steps on how to change it. (I know it says how to add one, but it also tells you how to change it.)
  • Question
Can I use my iPhone to change Wi-Fi name & password?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
Yes, many routers come with apps to manage them, or you can use your phones browser to log into their management interface. The way to do this varies by router, but the manual that comes with it will tell you how to do it.
  • Question
It worked, but it doesn't tell what kind or brand or device is connected with it.
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
No, it won't. If you have the MAC address, you can search online for "MAC address lookup", and then enter the MAC address into the site, and the site will tell you the brand that made the Wi-Fi adapter for the device, but you can't get any more info than that, unfortunately.
  • Question
Used all 3 methods above to see who is connected but the person is hiding themself from being detected. When someone is connected to my laptop network strength reduces. What can I do?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
If they are not being shown in the router, then they are not connected. It's likely that you are dealing with another network problem. You can read How to Fix Common Computer Network Issues for help.
  • Question
May I use a Linux network mapper?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
Yes, a Linux network mapper would work just as well as a Windows or Mac one.
  • Question
Can I check who is connected if I am not currently on the Wi-Fi network myself?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
You would have to set up remote access to your Wi-Fi router to do this. How to do this varies by router, and should be described in the manual. Please note that by doing this, you could create security issues, so do this with caution.
  • Question
If a person was connected to the Wi-Fi, and then moves out, will they still be connected?
    R2_d2000
    Top Answerer
No, they would have to be in range to connect to the Wi-Fi network. The average range of a Wi-Fi network is 150 feet or 45 meters. However, they will still have the password saved in their device, so if they come back in range, they can still connect. If you want to prevent them from reconnecting, then you need to change your password. You can read How to Change Your Wi Fi Password for steps on how to do this.
