Just the front half of the foot is supported, the heel hangs over the edge of the step. Hold this position as long as possible (up to 60 seconds). If that is easy, try the same exercise, standing on just one leg, only the front half of the foot supported.

Is this normal?Runner4lifeCommunity AnswerIt is perfectly normal, especially if those muscles have never been exercised in that way before. However, if you find yourself still struggling after a few months or so depending on your age and how often you exercised you should seek help.
