  • Question
My tablet screen isn't cracked, but when I turn it on, there is an inside crack. What can I do?
    Community Answer
There are two layers of framed glass on any tablet screen that is touch capable. The first, outer layer is called a digitizer - this allows you to use your fingers or a stylus pen to navigate and provide human interfacing with. The second layer is the tablet's graphics screen (LCD). If the broken part is the LCD screen, then the tablet needs a costly repair to replace it. If the digitizer is the one that is broken, then it also needs to be replaced, but it's not so expensive. Most of the time, digitizers get damaged first, then the LCD screen below it. You may want to decide if the cost of repair or buying a new tablet makes more sense to you.
  • Question
What is the part number for the USB/power port?
    Community Answer
The part number of a USB/power port is provided by the manufacturer of the component. Each manufacturer of a USB port component on a circuit board will always have a different number. It is better to know what type of USB port a circuit board is using, because different manufacturers use different types of USBs.
  • Question
Can I fix the charging port if it is not working?
    Community Answer
If you are sure that the port is broken, then consider how you can open the case of the device. Some devices are very hard to open, and in trying you may make things worse by damaging the touch screen. Some manufacturers use adhesive to seal their cases for anti-tampering reasons. If you manage to open it, and if the port has come off/loose of its pads, you need to have skill in soldering SMD (surface mount device) type components, and a temperature controlled soldering iron is helpful. You will also need to find/research the pin connectors arrangement of the port and know where to place the tip of your soldering iron. If the port is seated firmly on pads, then your problem is something else.
