How can I be good at public speaking?

Be sure to remain confident, smiling at the audience and keeping good eye contact with many of those in the audience. Speak at a slow rate, keeping your voice clear. If you're nervous, try to just focus on your topic. If it helps, pretend you're talking to a close friend. If you know your topic well, you should be able to say some information off the top of your mind. This will make your speech sound more natural and less pressured.

When you are very nervous, the body's "flight" instinct kicks in. Your hormones are telling you to literally drop everything and run. Try using index cards and practicing more beforehand. During the speech, just take slow, deep breaths and focus on what you're saying.
