Are you planning to take a ride with Uber but would like to share your ETA and trip map with friends? Just follow the instructions below to ensure your friends know when you'll arrive.
Steps
-
Request your Uber ride as usual. Open up the app and enter your destination in the "Where to?" box. Tap the black "Request Uber" button.
- If prompted a few extra times to verify your pickup location, make sure to press "Request Uber" on any screen that comes up and complete the payment process for the ride.
-
Wait for the driver to accept the request. Once a Driver accepts, your screen will show a icon of a moving car signifying where the Driver is enroute to your location.Advertisement
-
Swipe the "En Route" bar up from the bottom of the screen.
-
Tap the "Share Status" button underneath the "Your current trip" section label.
- If you don't see it, you haven't waited long enough for a Driver to accept.
- The "Your current trip" section is sandwiched in between the "Driver information" and "Get to know your driver" sections, just above the expected cost.
-
Tap which contacts you wan to receive your ETA information. Uber will list the people in your Contacts who have Uber accounts for easy sharing. You can also send your ETA to other people, manually.
- You can send only 5 contacts at a time your current ETA information, but with a few extra taps, you can send the remainder the information manually.
-
Tap the "Send" button to send it to these contacts.
-
Select the sharing service you'd like to use to send the link to these contacts. The easiest method is probably text message, but you can also select email.
-
Confirm what you want to do. Click the "Send Status" to send the message.
-
Share the links manually if needed. Tap the "Share" button in the top right corner of the screen to share the ETA link with any contacts who don't have Uber accounts. From Uber's "Select contacts" menu, tap the Share button, select your sharing method, and send the link that way.Advertisement
