Are you planning to take a ride with Uber but would like to share your ETA and trip map with friends? Just follow the instructions below to ensure your friends know when you'll arrive.

Steps

  1. Open up the app and enter your destination in the "Where to?" box. Tap the black "Request Uber" button.
    • If prompted a few extra times to verify your pickup location, make sure to press "Request Uber" on any screen that comes up and complete the payment process for the ride.
  2. Once a Driver accepts, your screen will show a icon of a moving car signifying where the Driver is enroute to your location.

    • If you don't see it, you haven't waited long enough for a Driver to accept.
    • The "Your current trip" section is sandwiched in between the "Driver information" and "Get to know your driver" sections, just above the expected cost.
  3. Uber will list the people in your Contacts who have Uber accounts for easy sharing. You can also send your ETA to other people, manually.
    • You can send only 5 contacts at a time your current ETA information, but with a few extra taps, you can send the remainder the information manually.
  4. The easiest method is probably text message, but you can also select email.
  5. Click the "Send Status" to send the message.
  6. Tap the "Share" button in the top right corner of the screen to share the ETA link with any contacts who don't have Uber accounts. From Uber's "Select contacts" menu, tap the Share button, select your sharing method, and send the link that way.
