How to Upgrade to YouTube Music Premium on iPhone or iPad

This wikiHow teaches you how to upgrade to YouTube Music Premium on iPhone and iPad. Premium is YouTube Music's paid subscription service. It costs $12.99 for individuals and $19.99 for a family plan. It allows you to listen to YouTube Music without ads, download music and play it offline, as well as play music in the background on mobile devices. A 1-month free trial of YouTube Music Premium is available.

Upgrading to Premium

The YouTube Music app has a circular icon with a white 'Play' triangle inside a smaller white circle. Tap the icon on your Homescreen to open YouTube Music.
Your profile image is the circular image in the upper-right corner of the YouTube Music app. This displays the Account menu.

Tap Get Music Premium . It's the red bar at the bottom of the Account screen. This takes you a page that lists the benefits of YouTube Music Premium.
- If you have already done the free trial, tap Paid memberships in the Account menu. Then tap Manage in the box at the top. Then tap Renew membership .

Tap Try it free . It's the blue box in the banner at the top of the "Get Music Premium" page.
- If you wish to try a 1-month trial of a Family membership, tap the blue text that says family membership below the banner at the top. Then tap the blue "Try it free" button in the Family Membership box.

Confirm with your ID. Use your preferred confirmation method to confirm your purchase. This could be your Apple ID password, the pattern you use to unlock your iPhone or iPad, or your Touch ID fingerprint. This confirms your purchase of YouTube Music Premium. You will be billed through iTunes.
- In order to avoid being charged, you need to cancel your Premium subscription before the 1-month trial is over.
It's the red button at the bottom of the Welcome screen. This takes you back to the YouTube Music app.

Upgrading to a Premium Family Plan

It's the third option in the Account menu when you have a Premium account. It's next to a grey YouTube logo.
It's the blue text in the lower-right corner of the box at the top that displays your membership details. This displays a pop-up menu with some upgrade options.
It's the first option in the pop-up menu when you tap "Manage".
Use your preferred confirmation method to confirm your purchase. This could be your Apple ID password, the pattern you use to unlock your iPhone or iPad, or your Touch ID fingerprint. This confirms your purchase of YouTube Music Premium.

Cancelling YouTube Music Premium

It's the icon that has a blue icon with a white capital "A".
Your profile image is the circular image in the upper-right corner of the App Store. The displays your Account menu.
Your Apple ID is at the top of the Account menu. It has your name, and email address next to your profile image. This displays your Account Settings menu.
It's about halfway down the Account Settings menu. This displays a list of all the subscriptions you have that are being billed through iTunes.
It's the icon that has a circular icon with a white 'Play' triangle inside of a smaller white circle. It's in your list of active subscriptions.
It's the red text at the bottom of the YouTube subscription details page. This displays a confirmation pop-up.
It's in the lower-right corner of the "Confirm Cancellation" pop-up. This cancels your YouTube Music Premium subscription at the end of the current billing cycle. You can continue to enjoy the benefits of YouTube Music Premium until the current billing cycle ends.
