Whether it's just to have some additional depth of information or if it's trying to puzzle out where you probably won't be able to get a ride, knowing the boundaries of a Lyft City is sometimes critical to have.
Steps
-
1Open a web browser directly to the Lyft Cities page . Although it can be accessed from the Lyft page easily, going to it via the URL makes the shortcut that much easier when trying to find the needed information. The URL hasn't changed since before 2017 - and it still works now in 2020!
- You don't need to be signed in to your Lyft account. However, if you are already signed in, great. You don't need to sign out. Lyft won't log your use or time, or what cities boundaries you are viewing.
-
2Determine the nearest location for your city. Lyft Cities are only based on city or region names. Find the most fitting name of the city you'd like to query that might be the best fit. If you can't find the best suitable name, there is a search box that defaults to "Find Your City" above the City labels, which it searches in realtime for your city and state, once you tap the best location, it'll send you to the right page.
- On a laptop, cities are arranged in multiple columns with headers starting with the state name in bold followed by links to each Lyft city in Lyft-pink/purple. On mobile, Lyft cities are arranged in one column with foldable structure (arrow or down arrow points) starting with the bolded state line followed by all links in Lyft-purple.

3Find the map. On a laptop, if you scroll down past "Fare Estimate" and the two estimation boxes, the map will be present. On a mobile device's web browser, it will display also past these two boxes, but you'll also see the Get Estimate and some tiny print about sample fare estimates.
-
4Learn how these maps can be controlled. On both laptops and mobile devices, there are + and - buttons that control the zoom levels. Left-click and hold the map to move the map around and view the exterior boundaries. However, on mobile devices, you can also squeeze or expand two adjacent fingers on your hand to control the zoom level, or use two fingers to move the map around.
-
5Learn a little about these maps. Lyft doesn't like very large boundaries, but often, Lyft boundaries tend to be more boxy and small - often extending no more than 100 miles (160 km) to either side. The edges of the boundary on the map, are in Lyft-purple, and the included Lyft city is highlighted in a lighter shade of Lyft purple that looks almost a hair pinkish.Advertisement

Tips
- Sometimes, Lyft may ask if you will accept their Cookie Policy. This gives you more room to see the boundaries and gives you more free space to "play with". Tap the "Accept All Cookies" button, if you see it ask that. Thanks
