Whether it's just to have some additional depth of information or if it's trying to puzzle out where you probably won't be able to get a ride, knowing the boundaries of an Uber City is sometimes critical to have.

Steps

  1. 1
Open your web browser to the Uber Cities page. You don't need to be signed-in to your Uber account. However, if you are signed in, you don't need to sign out. Uber won't log your use or time, or what city boundaries you are viewing.
    • Uber has been moving this link around often. It is now found just below the large "Get in the Driver's Seat" banner under the label "Setting 700+ Cities in Motion" written as "View all cities", so it is best going directly to the link as the link hasn't changed in quite some time.
  2. 2
Figure out the naming system of the Uber City you'd like the learn the boundaries of. Uber likes to name their Cities off of metropolitan cities. However, there are some differences where Uber uses region names where some may even confuse you. If you need help figuring out the name and can't find the most-suited name for your real city, you may need to Contact Uber. There isn't a search feature to search by real city, but sometimes Uber associates can help answer your questions about the City names.
    • Sometimes, Uber themselves may not know your city name if you give them your real-life City, State and zip code. Uber's employees read off a trainee manuscript of possible English answers for most common questions asked and sometimes don't understand enough English to read and/or speak without problems.
    • You can sometimes ask an Uber Driver about the city name that they driving in, although not all drivers know their Cities names that well - especially when the City is known by it's a regional designation. so be warned if asking around.

  3. 3
Locate and click the Uber City on the Uber Cities page. On a desktop web browser, you have to look through a 2-column list which groups them by country (starting with the United States, then alphabetizes into other countries. Within these countries, Uber alphabetizes their lists by the Uber City Name in grey.
    • On a mobile device, although Uber alphabetizes the countries the same way (with the United States Cities up top), Uber uses a one-column format with the same grey font.
  4. 4
Look for the map of the area on the very right of the Uber City title screen. The grey-shaded area with the blackish borders is the Uber City that is denoted by the title. If there is an unshaded area, you may either be looking at other Uber Cities, or area that Uber isn't yet covering.
  5. 5
Use the map's features. On laptops, use the plus and minus buttons in the bottom right corner to zoom in and out of the map or click and move the map with your mouse to move around. On mobile devices, you can zoom in using common touch-screen movements, but to move the map, place and move two fingers inside the map's area (as your in-map tip will mention).
