Name of page and database
Begin your citation with the name of the specific page where you got the information (often times, this will be the name of the drug you searched) and the name of the database.
Example:
Paroxetine. Lexi-Drugs.
Publication and access dates
Write the year the page was last updated as well as the date you accessed it in year-month-day format with the month abbreviated to 3 letters. Put the dates in brackets and separate them with a semicolon.
Example:
Paroxetine. Lexi-Drugs. [updated 2018 Oct 6; cited 2019 Jan 2]
General resource
Write “In” followed by where and how you accessed the information. In most cases, this will be Lexicomp Online [Internet].
Example:
Paroxetine. Lexi-Drugs. [updated 2018 Oct 6; cited 2019 Jan 2] In Lexicomp Online [Internet].
Location and publisher’s name
Provide the city and state where Lexicomp is published followed by a colon and then the name of the publishing company.
Example:

Resource URL
Since the URL is unique to each person’s search results, anyone who follows it will not be able to access the same page and therefore must perform their own search. Give the URL of Lexicomp’s home page to prompt them to search for the information.
Example:
Paroxetine. Lexi-Drugs. [updated 2018 Oct 6; cited 2019 Jan 2] In Lexicomp Online [Internet]. Hudson, Ohio: Wolters Kluwer Clinical Drug Information, Inc. Available from http://online.lexi.com/lco/action/home
In-text
NLM doesn’t have a specific style for in-text citations, so ask your professor or supervisor if they prefer you to follow APA (page name and last update year) or AMA style (superscript). Additionally, if you’re using AMA format, check with them about whether the reference list should be ordered alphabetically or according to superscript numericals.
Examples:
APA
Paroxetine is an effective method of stimulating and normalizing dopamine (“Paroxetine,” 2018).
AMA (in-text and reference list)
Paroxetine is an effective method of stimulating and normalizing dopamine.¹
