Tell him
Gaze into his eyes and tell him how much you appreciate him.
“I appreciate how sweet and thoughtful you are.”
“I love how you always know what to say to cheer me up.”
Have affectionate rituals
Greet him as soon as he gets home with your full attention, a hug, and a kiss.
Prep his clothing
Have his pajamas, robe, and slippers ready for him to relax in as soon as he gets home or out of the shower. If you feel comfortable enough (and if he agrees), lay out some options for him to wear to work in the morning.
Feed his heart
“The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach” is a popular adage for a reason. Cook him his favorite meal, bake a special dessert, or serve him breakfast in bed.
Take him out to his favorite events
Show that you know and respect his favorite hobbies and plan date nights around those things.
* Concerts
* Sporting events
* Gaming arcades
* Beer, wine, or spirits tastings/breweries
* Movies
* Comedy shows
* Museums
Do random acts of kindness
Surprise him with little gifts or by doing favors for him.
* Have his favorite snack ready when he gets home
* Run errands for him
* Have his favorite meal delivered to his work for lunch
* Leave him sweet thank you notes around the house (or wherever he’ll see it)
* Give him a proper massage
Listen to his needs
If he’s having a hard day, ask him what he needs and follow through.
* If he needs alone time, give it to him.
* If he needs a night with his friends, don’t try to intrude and wish him a fun night out.
Praise him in front of others
Brag about him in front of friends and family and he’ll be sure to hear how much you appreciate his good deeds.
“Jesse has been doing such a great job with the garden back there, I’m so proud of him for nurturing it through this dry season!”
“Daniel sold almost half the pieces at his gallery showing last week. The collection is just stunning!”
Ask for his advice
Asking what he thinks about what you should do in a tricky situation will make him feel included, valued, and heard.
“You’re good with interpersonal conflict, honey, what do you think I should do about this?”
“I know I’m going to tackle this project, I just don’t know where to begin. Any words of wisdom?”
