Dear Dr. Taylor,
First paragraph: Introduce yourself and explain why you’re writing.
My name is Alex Lester, and I am very interested in working at your office as a veterinary assistant. Beyond my education and experience, my passion for this work would make me a great addition to your practice.
Second paragraph: Start going into your background, both work experience and any relevant coursework from school.
I graduated Everettville Veterinary School with the second-highest GPA in my class, and received my VA certification soon after. While at school, I interned at a local veterinarian’s office, assisting with check-ups and observing their cutting-edge, minimally-invasive surgical procedures. For the past two summers, I have also traveled to Peru to work with international veterinarians, assisting local residents and farmers with their pets and animals.
Third paragraph: Explain why you’re interested in this job/company in particular.
This education and experience have solidified what I have known since I was a little girl: that I want to work with animals. I have always had my sights set on this career, and I know from speaking to your customers that you feel a similar dedication to your work. I am willing to stay late, work extra hours, and handle the most difficult of pets, because this career is my true passion. I hope I can bring that dedicated enthusiasm to your office.
Last paragraph: Mention any attachments you’re sending and reiterate your interest and availability.
I have attached my resume for your consideration and would be happy to speak on the phone or in-person at your convenience. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I am eager to bring my skills to Puppy Love, and hope to speak with you soon.
Best,
Alex Lester
