“I’m really glad we were able to meet today! How are you doing?”
I’m good, thanks. How about you?
“Doing well. I haven’t tried this restaurant yet but it’s supposed to be good. Do you like Italian?”
Definitely. I’d eat pasta every day if I could.
“Same. If only, right? My mom used to do homemade ravioli every weekend and it was to die for. We’d put cheese and either spinach or beef inside and just inhale them all.”
That sounds great. Now they better have ravioli here!
“I know! I tried to make some from her recipe once and it was a complete flop.”
Oh no! Why does that always seem to happen with parents’ recipes?
“I wish I could tell you. It’s like they leave the key ingredient off just so you can never make it just like they did.”
I wouldn’t put it past them. I tried to make my mom’s chocolate chip cookies once and they didn’t rise at all. They just flattened out into these discs and almost burned. I still have no clue what I did wrong.
“Hey, as long as they’re edible…”
Haha, they were. They were pretty good, actually, just looked terrible.
“Well, you’re better than me. I don’t even try to bake anymore. Anytime I try to do a cake or cookies, they just shrivel up. I finally just decided to take the hint!”
Yeah, it’s not easy…
“Anyone else in your family like to cook?”
Actually, my daughter just started making her own stuff and she’s pretty good. She made a vegetable soup the other night that was way better than anything I could do. Now she’s really confident, so I’m sure we’ll be getting some… interesting combinations soon, haha.
“Oh boy, that should be fun. I think the only thing I knew how to cook until the age of 25 was scrambled eggs, so she’s way ahead of me.”
Same for me, probably, haha.
“Well, OK, all this talking about food has got me absolutely starving. What are you thinking of getting?”
I was looking at the spaghetti carbonara. I haven’t had that in so long.
“That looks great. I’d copy you, but I think this lasagna is calling my name. And as much as I could spend the rest of this lunch talking your ear off about pasta and cookies, I should probably turn to business before I take up too much of your time. So, let’s talk about what you were thinking for this marketing campaign…”
