Talk to someone you trust.
“Hey, can I talk to you about something? It’s been really bothering me and I need to talk to someone about it.”
“Can we talk? I need to get some stuff off my chest.”
Be honest about your feelings.
“I think I still have feelings for my ex. I know she wasn’t right for me, I know we needed to break up, but I can’t stop thinking about her. It makes me feel sick, but I can’t stop.”
“I’ve liked someone for a really long time and it’s starting to get unbearable. He’s already dating somebody else and it hurts so badly. It’s like I can’t make myself stop thinking about him, even though I want to.”
Describe what you’re feeling and why you want it to stop.
“I can’t focus on anything. Everything reminds me of her.”
“Every time I think about him, I want to throw up. I can’t stand it.”
Ask for advice.
“Has this ever happened to you? What do I do to stop thinking about them?”
“What do you think I should do? I’d appreciate any advice you can give me.”
