Sometimes it could be from food. If you're eating more carbohydrates, then you'll hold more water. That's why you feel puffed. And sometimes for women, it could be around their cycle, or they have high estrogen, which plays a role. But you still could be helping your body by drinking more water, because most of us are not hydrated enough. When you wake up, you're dehydrated, by the way. So the first thing you drink should be water, not coffee. This is a common mistake.
You can also help reduce bloating by adding two spoons of apple cider vinegar to water and drinking it after meals, twice a day. You have to mix the apple cider with water, though, because it's acidic. This prevents any stomach problems and helps in flushing out extra water.
6 months to 1 year of good nutrition is needed as well. At 22, you likely have a fast metabolism, so you have to eat good protein and not be afraid of eating higher amounts of carbohydrates. But avoid junk food and consistently workout 3-4 times a week, maybe lean more to 4 times a week. You can also use a mass gainer if you’re skinny, but if not a simple whey protein will help.
