If ____[this]____, then ____[this]____ will happen.
An “If then” hypothesis contains two parts: the “if” portion contains the testable proposed relationship between two variables, and the “then” portion is a prediction of expected results from experimentation.
Examples:
If you get at least 6 hours of sleep before a test, you will perform better than if you get less sleep.
If you drink caffeine before going to bed, then it will take longer for you to fall asleep.
If I never feed my fish, then the fish will die.
If you exercise every day, then you will be healthier.
If I brush and floss my teeth at least twice a day, then I will have a lower risk of cavities.
If you add fertilizer to your garden, then your plants will grow faster.
If skin cancer is related to ultraviolet light, then people with a high exposure to UV light will have a higher frequency of skin cancer.
