John Travolta has never publicly come out as gay and has only ever been romantically linked to women, including Kelly Preston, to whom he was married from 1991 until her death in 2020, and with whom he had three children. Until Travolta publicly opens up about his sexuality, it's best not to make assumptions.
Despite his public relationship history, there have been persistent rumors that John Travolta is gay for decades. Why? Well, in 2014, Travolta was sued by a male masseur for assault and sexual battery, and in the wake of the allegations, Travolta's ex-assistant, Joan Edwards, claimed her former employer had been in a relationship with his male ex-pilot for 6 years. The same year, that pilot, Douglas Gotterba, sued Travolta for the freedom to write a tell-all memoir about his affair with Travolta. The masseur and Gotterba both ended up dropping their cases, though it's not totally clear why.
Additionally, those aren't the only instances of folks alleging Travolta is gay. Even Carrie Fisher (R.I.P.), who knew him, said in a 2013 interview with The Advocate , "[M]y feeling about John has always been that we know [he's gay] and we don't care. Look, I'm sorry that he's uncomfortable with it, and that's all I can say. It only draws more attention to it when you make that kind of legal fuss. Just leave it be."
So, we can't say for sure how Travolta identifies, since he's never opened up about it (and it sounds like he never will). What do you think?
