Keep the conversation active
Before asking her out via text, keep your messages lively and natural, showing her you’re interested to get to know her better.
Ask her out with a compliment
This will make her feel appreciated and give her an idea of why you want to go out with her.
“You have the funniest stories! Would you like to tell me more of them over some coffee?”
“You have such a great smile and I’d like to see it more often. Can I treat you to dinner sometime this week?”
Be specific
Make sure she understands that you’re asking her out on a date and not just a hang-out between friends.
✗ “Want to hang?”
✓ “Want to go out with me?”
Be patient
If she doesn’t text back right away, be patient and avoid bombarding her with follow-up messages. If she hasn’t responded after a long time (and it’s uncharacteristic of her texting style) feel free to send her a friendly, understanding message.
✗ “Helloooo? Is that a yes/no?”
✓ “Hey, so I haven’t heard back from you so I’m assuming that’s a no. No worries, friend!”
Be prompt
If she says yes, be ready to provide details of the date as soon as possible to show that you’re interested and excited.
Her: “Yes, I’d love to!”
You: “Great, can’t wait to see you! How about I pick you up Friday at 6:30?”
Be cordial
If she says no, give her some space and maintain friendly conversation.
