Home Trivia: Quiz your guests on your home city, your new home, any previous homes you have lived in, and anything else related to “home” that you can think of! If you want to do prizes, the winner (whoever gets the most correct answers) can win a gift certificate to a home improvement store.
Board Games: A housewarming party is the perfect opportunity to break out some board games, especially those designed for larger groups. Some fun ideas are Cards Against Humanity, Pictionary, Scattergories, and Trivial Pursuit. You can even have some kid-appropriate games available for the younger set, such as Monopoly, Apple to Apples, Candy Land, Life, and Ticket to Ride.
Scavenger Hunt: Break up into groups and have the guests go on the hunt for various items or features of your new home (for example, pink vase, wonky cabinet, rose bush, etc.). Have the guests take pictures using their phones and see which team completes the list first!
Karaoke: Rent a machine, or set up a game on your Playstation, and let guests perform their favorite songs.
Photo Booth: Everyone loves a photo booth! You can create one using a cloth backdrop and an instant film camera, such as a Polaroid. The more props you bring in, the more fun guests will have. Try including some home-renovating props such as fake hammers and tool belts to really get into the theme of the night.
Famous House Match: Print out photos of familiar TV, movie, and celebrity homes, and have your guests match the homes to the show or star. The winner gets a door prize!
