“Yes,” “Yeah,” or “I’m open to trying it”
“I don’t know,” “Maybe,” “No,” or silence
Physical cues, like actively kissing or touching*
Passively accepting physical attention or pushing away
Saying yes to a certain activity, like kissing
Doing things or touching places that weren’t specified, even if they gave consent for other activities
Saying yes in the moment
Doing things that were OK (expressly consented to) at an earlier point, but not now
Saying yes freely, without being pressured
Feeling coerced, or like they don’t have a choice, e.g. “Since you want to so badly, we can”
Saying yes while fully aware and sober
Being drunk, high, passed out or asleep, i.e. when not fully capable of giving consent
*Non-verbal consent isn’t always as clear. If you’re not sure, ask.
