The App Library on your iPhone is great for keeping your apps organized and preventing clutter on your home screen. But, depending on your settings, new apps might be downloading straight to your App Library, which can make them harder to find. So, how do you move them back? This wikiHow article teaches you how to add apps to the iPhone home screen, move them, and change where your newly downloaded apps appear.

Adding Apps to Home Screen on iPhone

To add apps to your iPhone home screen, swipe all the way left to open the App Library. Tap and drag an app onto the home screen. To change where an app downloads, open Settings and select Home Screen & App Library . Then, select Add to Home Screen or App Library Only .

Adding Apps from the App Library

  1. Swipe left on your Home Screen until you see a bunch of apps categorized by their functions.
  2. You can browse the categories or you can tap the search bar to search for your app.
    • If you don't see the app, or you accidentally deleted a built-in app, you can easily redownload it from the App Store. Just search up the app name, and then tap the cloud icon to download it again. [1]

  3. If you have sounds and haptics enabled, you will hear a pop as it “breaks loose” from its place on the screen.

    Drag and drop the app you want to move. Drag the app to the left to move it from the library to one of your home screens. Don't release your finger from the screen until the app is located where you want it. You’ll see the app and widget icons on the screen jiggling.

    Tap Done or the Home button (if you have one). This will stop the apps and widgets jiggling. You can also tap any blank area on the screen to get out of edit mode and stop the apps from jiggling.
