The Seventh House rules partnerships—romantic, contractual, and even open enemies. It’s opposite to the First House, which is all about the self. So the Seventh House represents the “shadow self”—the parts of you reflected back through others. Planets in your Seventh House show how you relate in one-on-one relationships and the kinds of dynamics or challenges you face. It’s also where you find themes around marriage and best friendships. You often reveal vulnerable parts of yourself to Seventh House people.

The Seventh House is so interesting – it is the house of partnership with the other. We tend to think of it as the house of love and marriage, and we also look at it for close business relationships, as well as those like soulmate partnerships. Your friends are going to go into the eleventh house typically, but if you have a best friend that you've been best friends with for your whole life, that's going to be more of a seventh house relationship. Those are rare, though.

I also think the seventh house is something that we tend to outsource. We tend to seek that out in other people, and we don't really claim it for ourselves. So if I have a Scorpio in my seventh house, I might not claim Scorpio as myself. I might not feel like I'm a Scorpio at all, but maybe I'm really drawn to Scorpio people and tend to collect them or be fascinated by them. A lot of times, your partner's sign will be the sign that's in your seventh house.

In astrology, the 7th house deals with partnerships. When it comes to the 7th house, some people think about romantic partnerships right off the bat. While it can impact romance, it's more about how we trust external entities that we associate our energy with, so “partnership” in the grand, energetic sense of the term. It will tell you about what kind of values you may seek in a romantic partner, but it also has to do with business partnerships and other partnerships. For example, when you think about running a business, you may partner with other brands or other businesses and want to know what's a good lens to figure out if you’re aligned with these businesses. The 7th house is a really good place to find those values.
