Using Viber

  1. Viber is a free app you can use to place voice and video calls from your computer. You can’t install Viber on your computer until you’ve created an account on your phone.

  2. Go to https://www.viber.com/ in a web browser on your computer. Now that you’ve set up Viber on your phone, you can download the app to your PC or Mac.

  3. This will download the installer file to your computer.
  4. Open the file you downloaded to install Viber. The on-screen instructions will take you through the installation process.
  5. This tells Viber that you have an account.
  6. Use the phone number connected to your Viber account. A QR code will appear on the screen.
  7. Your phone will automatically detect the code. Once detected, a “Success” screen will appear on the computer.
  8. The application will launch for the first time.
  9. It’s the square with a pencil at its top-right corner, directly to the right of the Search bar.
  10. Scroll through the contacts in the left column, then click the circle beside the person you want to call. A check mark will appear in the circle.
  11. It’s the purple button in the right panel. This opens a text conversation with the selected person.
  12. It’s at the top-right corner of the conversation.
  13. This places a call to the selected contact. The call will be connected once the other person answers.

Using Skype

  1. You’ll find it in the All Apps section of the Start menu in Windows, or the Applications folder in macOS.
  2. If you’re already signed in, you can skip this step.
  3. It looks like the number keys on a phone.
    • You must have Skype Out credits to make phone calls to regular telephone numbers.
    • If your Skype credits are at $0.00, click Add Skype Credit to purchase more.
  4. You will hear the outbound ringtone as the call is placed. Once the person you're calling answers, the call will be connected.
    • Make sure your microphone is enabled and your speakers are turned up.
