To create embellishments or unique designs for your projects, learn how to crochet spirals. Make double crochet stitches into a foundation chain so they coil into corkscrew spirals. You can attach these to blankets and toys or use them to make jewelry. If you'd like to make washcloths, hand towels, or blanket pieces with a spiral design, crochet a flat spiral. Make a magic ring . Twist the end of your yarn into a loop and hold it together with your thumb and index finger. Insert the hook from front to back and wrap the yarn over. Pull the loop through and yarn over again. Pull through the loop tightly.
