This is a standard measurement for upper cabinets because they allow an average adult to work at the counter without the cabinets getting in the way. - For example, if you have 7 feet (2.1 m) of available floorspace for base cabinets in one area and are planning 24 in (61 cm) cabinets, that means you can fit 3 cabinets in this space. Do the same calculation for each area in your kitchen.
- Come to a total cabinet count to determine how much material you'll need for the project.
