Things You Should Know

  • In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + K (Windows) or Cmd + Shift + K (Mac), or right-click the tab and select Duplicate Tab .
  • In Chrome, Safari, or Firefox, right-click a tab and select "'Duplicate tab'" or Duplicate .
  • If you have a Mac, you can customize keyboard shortcuts in Apple menu > System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts > App Shortcuts.

    Although there isn't a keyboard shortcut for duplicating tabs in these browsers, you can use this quick trick to copy the same website to a new browser tab.
    • There is no way to duplicate a tab in the mobile versions of Chrome and Firefox.
    • If you press Alt + D , the browser highlights the text in your address bar. Then, you can press Alt + Enter to open the same URL in a new tab . However, this is a little different than duplicating a tab, as the new tab won't have the same page history or actions you've done in the previous tab (like scrolling to a specific spot or filling in an answer box).
    • There are also extensions that you can get for Chrome and Firefox that will allow you to specify a keyboard shortcut to duplicate tabs. Duplicate Tab Shortcut is available for Chrome, and Duplicate Tab Shortcut is for Firefox.
