To use an Outlook.com account in a different mail app If you have an Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, or Live.com email address and want to use a different email program to send and receive email through that account, you will need this SMTP server information: [1]
    • SMTP server name: outlook.office365.com
    • SMTP port: 587
  2. 2
To use a different email account in Outlook If you want to use Outlook 365 for Windows or Mac, New Outlook for Windows, or Outlook.com to send and receive email through a different email account (e.g., Gmail, your work account, your email account from your ISP), you will need to get the SMTP server address from your email provider.
    • For example, if you want to send email through your Gmail account using Outlook, the server you will enter is smtp.gmail.com , and the port is 587 . [2]
    • If you use a Comcast.net email address, the SMTP server address is smtp.comcast.net , and the port number is 587 . [3]
