My bestie's birthday is coming up and she's a total bookworm, so of course I want to get her something related to this passion. I could get her a book, but I always get her books, so I would love to get her something a little more unexpected but still related, like a cool book light or book-themed mug or something. So, hit me with your best, most bookish ideas! Thanks in advance!

Do they have an e-reader? I love my Kindle. I used to swear I’d never use it because I always preferred actual books, but it’s actually so nice to have an e-reader. There are a lot of free books you can get for it, so your friend doesn’t even have to spend money on the e-reader if they don’t want to!

Second this! Or if they already have one, a pillow to hold the Kindle while they read or an automatic page turner can be neat accessories to give them.

My absolute favorite thing to get my friends is candles and perfumes inspired by their favorite books/movies. Here are some of my favorites lately:

Paddywax makes a lot (even though it's spooky season I've got their spicy "Christmas Carol"-inspired candle lit right now; if her birthday is closer to Christmas I recommend i!).

Poesie makes a fragrance called "Library Ghost" that smells like marshmallows and vanilla and wood and ahh, it's perfect to wear while curled up with a good book, especially during spooky season.

The Little Book Eater on Etsy makes fragrance rollers inspired by books and literary characters like Rebecca or Hermione. Their "Reading at the Cafe" one is my favorite right now, smells just like coffee.

I’ve got the perfect gift for your bookworm bestie. Buy them a custom book embosser with your friend’s name on it. I had a friend get me one and I use it to imprint my books so that if I let someone borrow them, I always know which one is mine. It also makes it easier for people who borrow my books to give them back.

Custom bookmarks are also a really cheap and thoughtful gift. You can buy some really unique and stunning custom bookmarks online without breaking the bank, and your friend will feel like you put a ton of time and effort into the gift.

Do they have a favorite book? If so, they might appreciate a signed version if the author is still alive. If they aren’t, you could buy your bud a first-edition printing or a special hand-bound copy.

It might not actually seem book-related, but buy them a mug warmer. Most bookies I know are huge coffee and tea drinkers, and there’s nothing better than sipping a warm drink while reading a book on a snowy or cool day!

My bf is a big book nerd and writer, and so one year for his birthday I made him a book out of cardboard and nice fabric. I wrote a lovey-dovey note on the first page and then the rest was blank for him to journal in or work on his novel. He absolutely loved it! I found a tutorial online for it (it may have even been wikiHow, lol) and it really wasn't as complicated as it seems.

If you live near (or in) a big city, look for a famous bookshop. You’d be surprised how many historical bookshops there are across the country. Some of them are unique because a famous author read there once, while some of them have notable collections or distinct architecture. Either way, take a road trip with your friend to the famous shop! You two will have a blast just poking around and looking at books.

Don’t go overboard with spending. While expensive gifts are often a nice surprise for a great friend, there are plenty of lower-cost gifts that can show someone that you care. Remember, “It’s the thought that counts.” Keep it personal and meaningful.

The best gifts come from the heart not a store. Take some time to make something for them if you don't have alot of time to make something big, you can still take a moment to write a sweet, simple card saying how much you value your friendship.

Buy them something unique. Something that they actually want. They may be surprised with what you gave and and can appreciate it.

Sometimes it doesn't matter what gift you give to the person. They may associate an emotional connection with whatever gift you get and it will still be meaningful to them.

A good idea is to go out with them and let them spend a certain amount of gift money. For example, you could give them $100 and go with them on a shopping spree.
