Best overnight oats recipe ideas
I tried overnight oats for the first time recently and they're so delicious! They're instantly one of my favorite breakfasts. How can I start making my own? Do you have any favorite toppings or mix-ins you recommend?
Just add rolled oats and your choice of milk (I usually use almond milk) in a jar in a 1:1 ratio. Add fruits/nuts/other toppings of your choice. My go-to toppings are chia seeds, blueberries/whatever other berry we happen to have on hand, almond slivers, a pinch of salt, and honey but you could use yogurt, vanilla, maple syrup, peanuts, jelly, chocolate chips, coconut, whatever you want. Mix it all up, put the lid on , and put it in the fridge overnight (or at least for a few hours).
basically you just need to add oats and milk to a jar and put it in the fridge but you can also add other things like peanut butter or nutella, honey or brown sugar or another sweetener, and it's great because you can make it however you want but if you're going to add chia seeds or nuts or fruit then do that right before you eat it so they don't get soggy
chia seeds are also super absorbent so unless you're going for a super thick consistency that's another reason to wait until the last moment to add them. alternately, skip the oats altogether and use chia seeds fropm the get-go and make chia pudding.
Dark chocolate is especially great in overnight oats if you're looking for healthy ways to sweeten up your snack. Dark chocolate is 70% cocoa and it's rich in flavonoids and essential minerals, giving it anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and antioxidant properties. It can benefit people with diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Plus, dark chocolate’s low sugar and rich fiber content help curb your appetite, regulate your digestion, and improve your blood flow.
Don't forget to add salt! Seriosuly you need just a little pinch of salt and it will taste so much better.
I like to add cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice to mine! So yummy and perfect for fall.

I actually prefer savory oatmeal. I add a dash of salt and pepper, melted butter, and soy sauce, and the next morning I'll sometimes cook up an egg and add it on top. It's a healthier alternative to the dessert oats and still very tasty.
I recommend adding some matcha powder to your oats for a matcha latte-flavor. It's become my morning ritual. Chia seeds, a bit of yogurt, soymilk, matcha powder, and rolled oats. Next morning, just add some honey and chopped nuts.

I soak mine in milk overnight, then add cocoa powder, throw it in the microwave for a minute or two, add honey and coconut shreds, maybe some berries, and dig in. Delicious and healthy dessert.
I'm vegan and I always soak my oats in almond, coconut, or soy milk instead. Tastes delicious and adds a different flavor as well.
