How do I stop snoring so much?

So, my partner has kindly approached me about my snoring. They say it’s getting worse. I’m obviously asleep when it happens so who knows just how bad it is, but they insist I’m waking them up every night, which never happened before. I did go to the doctor just to rule out sleep apnea and I’m fine on that front, but the doctor wasn’t very helpful when it came to ideas about snoring less often (or more quietly, I guess). Anyone got any home remedies to help prevent or minimize snoring?

In my professional experience, you’re best off learning to sleep on your side. Most people only snore when they’re sleeping on their back because gravity keeps all of the excess tissue in your throat (like the uvula, tongue, and tonsils) in the opening of your throat. This leads to blockages, and blockages lead to snoring. So, most people find that their snoring is much less significant when they're on their side. I know there are some pillows that claim they reduce snoring, and it’s possible they do in a very small minority of people, but it might make a difference because of their specific anatomy. For most people, they're not going to find a significant change in their snoring by raising the head of the bed or buying a special pillow. I’d just try sleeping on your side more often.

Yep, sleeping on my side helped stop my snoring problem. If you're comfortable with sewing, I've seen people say that you can sew a tennis ball to the back of a shirt and that will keep you from rolling over onto your back in your sleep. I have my partner hold me so we both sleep on our sides.

I use nasal strips! They're super easy to use and work great for me.
