Make a festive and tasty lei for graduations, parties & more
PDF download Download Article

While the usual style of leis is made from flowers or multi-colored ribbon, the concept of a lei can be transferred to other objects. The use of candy to make a lei is a fun way to reward younger children at parties, school graduations, special events and the like with a tasty treat that they can wear. You can make a simple, garland-like candy lei with cellophane, or you can make a fuller candy lei using individually-wrapped candies.

How do you make a candy lei?

  1. Lay out a piece of cellophane about measuring 40x6 inches (102x15 cm).
  2. Arrange your candy in a single row down the center of the cellophane.
  3. Fold and roll the cellophane over the candy, keeping 1 inch (2.5 cm) between pieces.
  4. Tie colorful pieces of ribbon around the cellophane between the candy pieces.
  5. Tie the ends of the cellophane wrap with a large piece of ribbon to finish.
