Tour the Cabins at Camp Half-Blood

Welcome to Camp! Before you start playing games and fighting monsters, you’ll need to set your stuff down in your cabin. At Camp Half-Blood, there are 20 cabins and counting, but not all of them are actually meant for living in. Here’s a quick tour of the original 12 cabins that were here when the camp was founded:

Cabin #1: Zeus’ Cabin
An austere, marble building like the temple on Mount Olympus. There’s no furniture, and the only decor is a statue of Zeus in the center. This isn’t exactly a place meant to be lived in (but a few campers do), after all. Mostly, it’s a place where Zeus can be a little full of himself.

Cabin #2: Hera’s Cabin
A graceful, upright building strewn with garlands of pomegranates and flowers. Sort of like a smaller, slightly happier version of Zeus’ cabin, but more elegant. Nobody lives here, since Hera doesn’t run around having kids with mortals, but she insists on having a cabin at camp, anyway.

Cabin #3: Poseidon’s Cabin
Like a huge crab trap. Long, low, with huge windows that overlook the ocean. It’s cobbled together with sea stones and decorated with shells, starfish, and other flotsam and jetsam. A grand fountain adorns the inside. You can smell the ocean from here.

Cabin #4: Demeter’s Cabin
Demeter’s cabin is like a greenhouse that you can live inside, or maybe a hobbit hole. Grass grows on the roof and tomatoes vine up and down the inside walls. Flowers cover everything, and the oak tree growing in the center supports the earthen ceiling.

Cabin #5: Ares’ Cabin
The punk house at the camp. It’s messy, mean, and totally rad. A boar’s head watches over the door and barbed wire lines the roof, telling everyone who doesn’t belong to keep out. Rumor has it that the cabin is surrounded by landmines, so watch your step!

Cabin #6: Athena’s Cabin
Athena’s cabin is more practical, made for hard workers and passionate souls. There’s a library and a workshop, where you can read, study, and tinker. Living here is kind of like living at school.

Cabin #7: Apollo’s Cabin
Apollo’s cabin has a solid gold exterior, but the inside is a little more humble, with bunk beds and a cot for the injured. It’s a warrior’s house, made for contemplation and readiness. That said, small yellow flowers line the sill and the lawn outside, bringing a spot of cheerfulness.

Cabin #8: Artemis’ Cabin
One of the more mysterious cabins, Artemis’ place glows silver in the night, but looks normal in the day. Its walls are carved with images of wild animals. Artemis has no children, but her adopted hunters stay here a while as they come and go.

Cabin #9: Hephaestus’ Cabin
Somewhere between an artist’s studio and a blacksmith’s forge. It’s messy and littered with building materials, but everything in here is high-tech and super nifty. It’s got its own firepole!

Cabin #10: Aphrodite’s Cabin
A real-life Barbie Dream House. A blue roof, pink door, flowers in the window, the smell of perfume constantly wafting through the inside. It’s prim and proper, and while it’s not to everyone’s taste, residents get to decorate their own living area, which is a plus.

Cabin #11: Hermes’ Cabin
A bit run-down, but full of life and laughter. Hermes has a tendency to take in unclaimed demigods, and so there’s always a crowd in Hermes’ cabin, talking, chatting, spreading rumors, playing games. It’s the homiest of them all.

Cabin #12: Dionysus’ Cabin Not many people have seen the inside, but the outside is covered with grapevines.
