Consider which Monopoly game you want to play. Just as there are a number of special editions of the Monopoly board game, there are a number of online versions of Monopoly. Here are some of the available versions:
- Monopoly Classic is the classic Monopoly game in which players start with $1500 cash, earn $200 for passing Go, and play for properties such as Boardwalk, Park Place, and others which are named for locations in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.
- Monopoly Here and Now uses dollar amounts more appropriate to the modern world and replaces the classic tokens with playing pieces more associated with the early 21st century.
- Monopoly Here and Now: World Edition uses modern world dollar amounts, but substitutes locations from around the world for those found in the classic game.
- Monopoly Hotels is a derivative game that focuses on building hotels, with amenities such as guest rooms (to attract famous toy guests), special attractions, and offsite entertainments such as museums, zoos, and aquariums.
- Monopoly: Millionaires plays much like the classic Monopoly game, except that each player has his or her own game board. Players can also build skyscrapers as well as the traditional houses and hotels.
- Monopoly City Streets is a joint venture with Google in which Google Maps is used to create the game board. Players can buy their home streets as well as locations around the world, and can not only erect houses and hotels, but also skyscrapers and football stadiums, and can also dump trash on other players' properties.
- There are also several online Monopoly games you can play for money as well as for fun. As some of these are on casino websites, they likely require a "buy-in" to play, and you could lose your money if you lose the game.
-
Decide how and where you wish to play an online Monopoly game. The first online Monopoly games were designed to be played on personal computers. However, with the rise in popularity of smartphones and tablets, there are a number of Monopoly games designed for mobile platforms.
- Some online Monopoly games are platform-specific. There is a version of Monopoly Here and Now: World Edition specifically for the iPhone, as well as a version designed for mobile platforms other than the iPhone.

QuestionIs there a fast game mode of Monopoly? Our Family Plays Games, LLC is a family-owned business based in Omaha, Nebraska. Launched in 2018, their mission is to promote growth and awareness of the modern board game hobby and bring more BIPOCs and families into the board game community. In June 2020 they were featured on Good Morning America and have since been featured on NBC News Online, Senet Magazine (UK), Ligadas.com (Brazil), a variety of YouTube programs, podcasts, and on local television. In January of 2022, they launched a second program on their channel, called OFPG Voices to highlight other underrepresented voices in the hobby. In addition, they make special appearances at board game conventions all around the country and work with board game publishers from around the world. It really depends on who you are playing with and how they approach the game. If everyone is okay with playing a fast game, then it will flow faster. That means decisions are made faster with less overthinking on each player's part, and it keeps the game moving. On the other hand, if a person takes a long time to decide whether to buy a property or make a trade and has AP, where we call it analysis paralysis, then it slows down the game. One way to speed things up is to tweak the rules a little. For example, you can skip auctions for unpurchased properties, start with extra money, or set a time limit for making decisions.
