Create and upload Snapchat Stories on mobile or web
When you create a video or photo snap, you can easily upload it to your Story to share with your friends. You can post to My Story, Private Story, Our Story, or even Public Story (if you have a verified account). These Stories will be available to watch for 24 hours. Here's how to post to Snapchat Stories using your iPhone, iPad, or Android.
Quick Steps for Posting a Snapchat Story
- Take a Snap or video.
- Edit your Snap or video.
- Tap Stories .
- Tap Add .

Posting to My Story (Mobile)

OpenSnapchat. This resembles a white ghost on a yellow background. This will open your main Snapchat page if you're logged in.
- If you aren't logged into Snapchat, tap LOG IN , then enter your email address (or username) and password.

Create a snap. You can upload a snap from your Camera Roll or Memories, or you can create a new one. You can upload a photo or video snap to your Public Story.
- To create a new snap, tap the camera button to snap a picture, or hold the button to start recording.
- To upload a snap from your Memories , tap the two overlapping rectangles icon. Tap and hold the image or video you want to upload, and then tap Edit .
- To upload a snap from your Camera Roll , tap the two overlapping rectangles icon. Tap Camera Roll . Then, tap and hold the image or video you want to upload. Select Edit .

Edit your snap as necessary. If you want to write on your snap, add drawings, or add effects, do so before proceeding.

Tap Stories . This is the icon at the bottom of the screen. A pop-up menu will open.

Tap Add . The snap will be added to your My Story.
- If you want to send your snap to some of your Snapchat contacts and your Story, tap Send To instead. Then, select My Story (or a Private Story) and any friends. Tap the arrow to upload and send your snap.

Posting to My Story (Desktop)

Go to the Snapchat website in a web browser. If you aren't already logged in, enter your Snapchat username and password to do so now.

Drag and drop the photo or video into the upload area. If you don't want to drag and drop the file, you can click Choose media to select it instead.

Click the checkmark next to "My Story" This is under the Send to header.
- If this is your first time posting, you may need to agree to Snapchat's Creator Terms.

Click Post to Snapchat . The video or photo will be uploaded to your story.

Posting to Public Story (Mobile)

Create a snap. You can upload a snap from your Camera Roll or Memories, or you can create a new one. You can upload a photo or video snap to your Public Story.
- To create a new snap, tap the camera button to snap a picture, or hold the button to start recording.

Edit the snap as needed. You can add filters, stickers, captions, and more.
- If you're promoting something or want to attach a website to your snap, tap the paperclip icon. Enter a URL, and then tap Attach to Snap .

Select your brand name and tap Send . You'll find your brand name underneath My Story . Your snap will be uploaded to your Public Story.

Posting to Public Story (Desktop)

Go to the Snapchat website in a web browser. If you aren't already logged in, enter your Public Profile username and password to do so now. [2] X Research source

Click Choose media . This is the button next to Upload photos or videos .

Select the file from your computer. Keep in mind that videos must be .mp4 format, 5 to 60 seconds long, and at least 540x960px.

Select the profile you want to post to. If you want to post to Spotlight as well, you'll need to repeat this process again for Spotlight; there's currently no way to post content to both your Public Story and Spotlight at the same time using the web.

Click Post to Snapchat . The video or photo will be uploaded to your Public Story.
- If this is your first time posting, you may need to agree to Snapchat's Creator Terms first.
