PowerPoint is not an image editor. You need to edit the images using a tool like Paint 3D.

Every time I try to insert an image as a background, it doesn't do anything. It would be great if you had any ideas why.

It could be that they're placed in a different slide than the one you're looking at. It could be that the image's format is not supported. Or, it could be that you haven't yet created an image box in your slide where the image will go.

How do i insert different background for different slides at once and not individually?

If you want your presentation to contain more than one theme (layouts that contain colors, fonts, and effects), add another slide master to it, and apply a theme to the new slide master.

I need to add an image of a map and have it link to that map on the web, how can I do this?

In the PowerPoint program, there are many drop-down menus available. Click the menu that says "Insert," then click the image. After that, choose the correct file of the map you need to add to your PowerPoint. To add the link to your PowerPoint so your professor can see where you got the image from, just copy and paste the image's link into the PowerPoint.
