What is a subtitle file?

A subtitle file is a kind of file (.srt, .sub or .svb) that allows a media player to display subtitles on a video. The subtitle file itself can be opened using the notepad app on your PC, but usually it is better to use a program like Jubler Subtitle Editor to edit a subtitle file. While subtitle files will work if you're watching a video on a PC, for example using VLC Media Player (Method 3), they won't work on TVs or other kinds of media players. Hardsubbing physically and permanently embeds subtitles on top of the video file so that they can be reproduced anywhere.

I had to load a movie in two parts. How do I get the subtitles for the second part of the movie?

Your media player will most likely have a feature to sync subtitles. If your movie is 90 minutes long and is divided into two 45 minute parts, for example, then when you load the second movie, you need to sync the subtitles to 45 minutes ahead.
