Be original and trustworthy with your students and most important of all, don't teach them about life based upon your experiences, but inform them of what they will face and let them choose for themselves. That doesn't mean you can't tell them stories of your experiences but it does mean you need to emphasize that that is your experience only and that they will surely have their own.
