How do I bypass internet filters on an Apple computer?

If a site is blocked using the built-in web filter (configured using system preferences and parental controls), you can't bypass it without logging into an account that doesn't have parental controls enabled. (On 10.7 and newer, boot into the recovery mode and open Safari from there; parental controls don't work in recovery mode.) If it's blocked using an external proxy server, just change your browser settings to connect directly to the internet.
