I use an app called Stop Motion Studio and on the app there is an option to erase parts of your shot. You can then support your object with play dough or just Legos. As far as strategy, make sure your object doesn’t go in a perfect straight line, it looks more realistic if there is some sort of curve/arc to the movement.
