Don't focus on what other people are thinking while you dance. Just focus on having a good time! Besides, the more you practice dancing, the better you'll become and the more confident you'll be.
  • Question
What if a guy asks you to dance?
    Community Answer
Do you like him? Say yes! If not, say "I'm a bit tired, I'm going to sit out the dancing for now." You can also pull him onto the dance floor with a few of your friends, making it more like a group dance. This is an especially good idea if you don't know the guy that well or if you aren't totally comfortable with him.
  • Question
What if my friends laugh at my moves?
    Community Answer
Laugh along with them. It's quite possible that they are just having a good time and not really paying attention to you at all. You can also pretend like making them laugh was your plan all along, then copy someone else on the dance floor.
  • Question
What if no one else starts dancing?
    Community Answer
If no one else starts dancing, then that's just more attention on you! Don't worry about everyone else. If you want to dance, then go for it! Other people might be inspired to start once they see you dancing.
  • Question
What if everyone is dancing but me?
    Community Answer
Try to join in the dancing by starting small. Nod your head to the rhythm, sway your arms from side-to-side a bit. Do a basic two-step dance move. If you truly don't feel comfortable on the dance floor, then try pulling a friend or two off the dance floor and talking to them. That way, you won't feel so left out.
  • Question
I'm good at dancing but I need to let loose and stop being so afraid of messing up. How do I do that?
    Rather Not Say :)
    Community Answer
The point of parties is to have fun. Just think about having fun and not messing up your dance. If you're good at dancing and you know it, you don't need to worry about much!
  • Question
How do I make it not awkward? So nervous...
    Community Answer
Dance with friends! If you feel awkward, at least you are not alone. Relax, if you don't feel comfortable, let go of worries. Don't stress about people judging, if they want to judge, let them judge. You are unique. Don't let them make it awkward.
