Check that "Send as SMS" is enabled in your messaging settings and that MMS messaging is turned on. Make sure you haven't blocked the original sender by checking your blocked contacts list. There may also be network issues with your carrier, so try restarting your phone or check with them. If the group is using iMessage, be sure you're signed in with your Apple ID under iMessage settings. If the issue continues, contact your carrier for assistance.
