It's very important to have a coach, mentor, or friend you can bounce ideas off of. This is called sound-boarding, and it can be a very powerful way to get clarity.
  • Question
I want to be a perfect person. Perfect in every field but I just feel useless. What can I do?
    Community Answer
Face the reality that no one is perfect. We are human and humans are imperfect. Expecting yourself to be perfect is a recipe for depression. Instead of trying to be perfect at everything, learn to accept failure as a learning process and just commit to trying your best.
  • Question
What can I do if someone tells me to face reality?
    Community Answer
Think about why this person said it. What were you doing that prompted that statement? Look in the mirror and ask yourself what, if anything, you need to change about yourself or your behavior. Reflect on your past and present, and figure out if you're in denial. Ask yourself the same question again, after you've spent some time seriously considering these things.
  • Question
How do I handle someone who twists reality to avoid taking the blame for anything?
    Community Answer
Talk to he/she. Try to get him/her to stop saying hateful comments, and remember to do it as kindly as possible. Maybe they don't realize they're doing it. The best thing you can do is emphasize to them how hurtful you find this behavior.
  • Question
What can I do if I cannot stop dreaming in my perfect world?
    Community Answer
Keep on dreaming - if you cannot stop doing it, maybe it is what you need. However, make some place for the real world in your life: some things just need to be done. Control the extent to which your imaginary perfect world and the real one mix with each other, and everything should be fine. If you find it impossible to make space for real life, talk to a therapist, counselor or a trusted friend/family member for advice.
  • Question
I have a friend who is in financial trouble, but refuses to change her behavior to move toward solvency. She has been bailed out multiple times. She isn't mean, but needy. How do I help?
    Community Answer
Do nothing. Let her put herself in debt and learn her lesson. That is the only way she will learn that she must live within her means. If she gets social security money, she sounds like someone that would benefit from having a representative payee.

  • Question
I'm always depressed about being jobless and having a younger boyfriend who thinks I'm younger than I am. How do I overcome this depression and have a successful life?
    Kristenp35
    Community Answer
Do not let external factors influence how you feel about yourself. Always remember that inside you is a kind and intelligent human being. Never forget your self-worth. Just because you are unemployed doesn't make you a bad person. That can be changed. As for your relationships, if they are hurting you more than benefiting you, perhaps rethink keeping them. Do what's best for you, and all else will fall into place.

  • Question
My gf kept me in dark. Sometimes she shows me love and affection and sometimes, she avoids me and even doesn't care. I can't control her but I love her and think about her maximum time. How can I overcome?
    Community Answer
It sounds like you need new female friend and interest in your life. It is not healthy to maximize your time thinking about one person and you must love yourself more. You are just as important as she is, think about yourself and how you really deserve to be loved and treated. You want someone who will love you the same way you love them. There is not a light switch on love, you either love someone or you don't. Question your gf to see if there is a reason for her actions that has not been shared with you.
  • Question

    WikiVY
    Community Answer
Communication can help to break inaccurate impressions. Listen more and learn. Your actions that look productive, whatever you do, whether studying, working, reading, etc can create a favorable impression in others. You know you are responsible and hardworking, so you can disregard their random thoughts and keep believing that you are a good person who is not useless.
