QuestionWhat lasts longer: microblading or a tattoo?Alicia Ramos is a Licensed Esthetician and the owner of Smoothe Denver in Denver, Colorado. She received her license at the School of Botanical & Medical Aesthetics, with training in lashes, dermaplaning, waxing, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels, and now provides skin care solutions to hundreds of clients.Tattoos last longer. With microblading, the pigment does not go as deeply as a permanent tattoo, but leaves lines similar to a brow filler. Still, microblading lasts a lot longer than brow filler and doesn't come off in the shower.

It's not like cutting hair where it's the kind of thing you can just learn by doing. There are needles and semi-permanent pigments involved. You have to get some quality training to do this safely. As of May 2017, you just need to take the blood-borne pathogens training to do microblading in the state. If you own a salon or spa, you need to have the proper business license for you shop before you can do brows for your clients.

QuestionDo I have to have a cosmetology license?OddyasheckCommunity AnswerYes. In order to work legally as any type of cosmetic technician, you’ll need to be licensed as a cosmetologist or aesthetician.
-
QuestionCan violent offenders get a cosmetologist license, and what offenses would disqualify me?Community AnswerYes, they can become cosmetologists (I'm surprised classes aren't now offered in prison). I'd think only being a sex offender would disqualify you from most things automatically. Otherwise, it's really up to the individual employer whether or not they choose to hire a felon, because they may do a background check, etc. It really depends on a lot of circumstances. In some places it's illegal for the employer to ask about your criminal history on a job application.
